The blinking blue light means your Canon printer is hunting for a Wi-Fi connection and can’t find one. It happens after router restarts, password changes, or when your network hands out a new IP address and the printer doesn’t notice.
Start with WPS. Hold the “Network” or “Wi-Fi” button on the printer until the power lamp flashes once, then release. Walk over to your router and press its WPS button within two minutes. They’ll sort it out between themselves. Blue light goes solid — you’re connected.
If your router doesn’t have WPS, or if it’s been disabled, go to IJ.start.canon and download the setup tool for your specific model. Running it on your computer kicks off a fresh network discovery and usually works when the button method doesn’t.
Still blinking? The problem is likely a firmware mismatch — your printer’s software doesn’t speak the same network dialect as your router anymore. Grab the latest driver package from IJ.start.canon/setup for your Pixma or Maxify model.
Once it’s working, go into your router settings and give the printer a static IP. Most dropped-connection problems happen because routers reassign addresses on reboot and the printer doesn’t follow. Fixed address means one fewer thing to go wrong.

If none of that clears it, press the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes 21 times, then let go. Wait for the Wi-Fi lamp to flash, then restart both the router and printer. This wipes every saved network profile. Annoying to redo, but it clears whatever junk was blocking the connection. Use IJ.start.canon to walk through reconnecting from scratch.
